As an entry task, review the elicitation video watched in Lesson 1-1:

  • What was in your "L" column?
  • Were there items in you "W" column that didn't get answered? What were they?
  1. Print one of each of the 6 articles listed in the Materials section.
  2. Divide students into 6 groups and give each group one of the printed articles. Explain to students that their group must think of a way to present the information in their article to the class (you could have the share-out either the next day or later in the period depending on the resources used).
  3. Encourage students to be creative. If computers are readily available, student could create a PowerPoint to share the next day. Other options could be to have students develop a skit or game to teach the information to the class.
  4. As groups present, have remaining students take notes on the Biotech Jigsaw Notes sheet.
